All Dogs Go to Heaven directed by Don Bluth (1989), is an animated film about mobster dogs who die/murdered and go to heaven but end up escaping since Charlie has unfinished business and ends up helping a child to even his own disbelief. It is a heavy story to be considered a family story during this day and age but it was a favorite amongst the children I was around when it was released that I still enjoy to this day. It has smoking, drinking, gambling, murder, and kidnapping while feeling like a grittier renaissance Disney film. It’s amazing and really pushed against what was out there for children back in the day. I could watch this over and over again. So, it’s a definitely must watch.
Watched on Netflix.
